Day 11: Mt Isa to Winton
Share
We attempted to get away from Mt Isa at 8am, and succeeded by 8:15am (recurring theme) The road out towards Cloncurry was much better than the straight roads into Mt Isa (much better scenery and the road is a little more challenging!) At Cloncurry, chaos set in as half of us decided to stop for fuel, whilst Raz, Darrell & myself [...]

Day 8: A day of Rest
This was to be our ‘rest’ day, with many of us staying a second night in the Glen Helen Resort. However, the day greeted us with rain – so much so, a number of riders were concerned about the rain setting in all day and the prospect of the road being flooded (thereby not being able to leave) di [...]

What a journey!!
With sore backs, butts and heads, it was absolutely amazing. But words can’t truly express how we felt making the distance.
Here are some photos from the last day. The ride from Alice Springs to Glen Helen, and then the final dinner event.
Day 7 – Black Dog Ride Grand Finale

After nearly 3000km, 6 days away from our much publicized sendoff event at Deus Café, we’ve left Heavitree Gap resort in Alice Springs, in a convoy of over 60 motorcycles, headed to Lasseters Casino. The local Lions club have been known to us for the last week, asgreat sausage sizzlers, and lived up to our expectations (yet again)– [...]

Today was the longest leg we had done on the trip – 689kms. And once again I was in awe of the landscape that we drove through. In one day we went from stony desert to lush green hills. Here are some photos from Day 6:

Day 5: Port Augusta to Coober Pedy

We had a bit of a stage-managed ride-out, with the ceremonial ‘meeting of the packs’ of East coast and West coast riders. I’m not sure how well it looked on camera so we’ll have to wait and see!
Rideout
The ride-out was spectacular – we had a double-file formation ride out of Port Augusta and for the fi [...]

Day 4: Renmark to Port Augusta

A quick little jaunt into Waikerie after yet another fuel stop before the day started – One of these days we may all get away on time! We had a quick photo session/interview with Kyla from the Murray Pioneer as our official news item for Renmark. Waikerie was our next destination for morning tea – the cherry ripe slice f [...]
Day 3: Hay to Renmark

This was one of the straightest pieces of road we travelled down – there were a few curves here & there and no change in altitude (i.e. no hills). It was great to get this road out of the way in the early morning – otherwise, the road can be deadly if you did it in the afternoon when you really want to have a rest!

Another great day of awesome scenery and riding, but today was fraught with incident. From punctures, to rain, to (silly) accidents, amongst other things. But it was also the day that we met up with Steve Andrews and his Crew from Black Dog Ride, and a great night was had by all, as we all plan to ride togther tomorrow towards Alic [...]
